Vila och Famna
Vila and Famna are two sculptures created specifically for play and interaction. The shapes, colors and expression invite children and their adults to climb, fantasize, tackle, kiss, hug, and play.
The sculptures were produced together with my mother Stina Wirsén. When I had my first child, we suddenly started to spend more time together. Becoming a mother and Stina becoming a grandmother raised a lot of new questions, feelings and thoughts for us, that we converted into these two physical forms.
The sculptures has now made their way out in the world as public art pieces.
Vila and Famna is now public art pieces outside Skellefteå konsthall / Sara kulturhus (to the left) and a part of Värmlands museums collection in the yard between the two buildings.
Built for interaction and play!
On the preschool Skogen in Värnamo Vila and Famna are soon to be anchored in the ground. This time in brand new dots and colours.
When the dark falls, their hearts start to glow and if you listen carefully, you can hear their hearts beating aswell.
Process
Messy, wonderful, chaotic, tears, sweat and the purest form of joy. This process was crazy and lovely.
A special thanks to our mentor Johan Ferner Ström!
The first two sculptures were made from styrofoam, glassfibre and akrystal.
Chainsaw is the most fun tool!
