DOMESTIC

Jag är en plats nu

Någons hem

Jag är huset

Jag bär hela skiten

Jag är hela skiten

En plats som inte längre är min

Domestic portrays the transformation from being an independent, free person to becoming a parent. A body that has become a home, with a kitchen, toilet, hallway, and bedroom. Stuff everywhere, no one sleeps, a judgmental relative lurks under the stairs. The kitchens are on fire, and the kids are screaming.

Mixed media, flocked surface.

Detail of the rooms. The sculpture contains of over 100 parts all individually sculpted and flocked.

Detail from the “balcony” where one of the parents are taking a breath.

The sculpture is about 50x110x120cm.

Exhibition at Hallwylska museet with Parts and pieces 〰️

Parts & Pieces are a collective engaging in art, design and craft. The group aims to create ongoing conversation and exchange amongst each other, coming together to find common ground through exhibitions.

Hallwylska Museet is craftsmanship on an epic scale. As a collective, there were a number of initial responses to this house as a site of inspiration as well as a location in which to present new work. The recurring thoughts circled around how we could find our way into the building, to relate and be in dialogue with the spectrum of identities the house has or is representative of; as a historical artefact, as a domestic space, as a life’s work, as a time capsule of wealth and taste...

One way we saw to do this was to see our work as a layer on top of the objects, now surfaces, that have been in place for decades. As part of Stockholm Craft Week 2024, our works seek to build new narratives around personal histories, individual inspirations and diverse craft perspectives.

Parts & Pieces are: Maja Bakken, Linnea Blomgren, Ulrika Mårtsensson Hanje, Sabine Offerlind, Marie O’Connor, Klara Wirsén Suchowiak and Linda Zetterman.
